On the Eve of Ouster, Millions of Taka Were Stored at Ganabhaban
On the eve of being ousted from power, millions of Taka were reportedly stored at Ganabhaban. Several officials were in charge of this money, according to multiple reliable sources. On the night of August 4th, ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with several leaders and security personnel. During this meeting, the distribution of money took place. The final meeting was held with her closest five leaders and officials, including Law Minister Anisul Huq, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and Mohammad Ali Arafat. Also present were Major General Ziaul Ahsan and a Lieutenant General. In this meeting, Hasina reviewed the overall situation and declared, "No more waiting, no more compromises."

She insisted on using force to quell the situation, urging indiscriminate shooting. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun also attended the meeting. I News BD has learned that during the meeting, the IGP stated that it was no longer possible for the police to control the situation. On one hand, there was a shortage of ammunition, and on the other, the crowd was growing continuously. Even shooting did not help. Although Sheikh Hasina praised the IGP during this time, she became furious at the end of everyone's statements and said, "You all are useless. I will ask the army to shoot and enforce a stricter curfew." The army had already indicated they would not shoot under any circumstances. After hearing this, Hasina reportedly directed her comments to a specific official, saying, "What have I not done for you? Now you all are trying to save your skin. Whatever needs to be done, I will do it myself." She further added, "Why isn't the army declaring martial law? That would calm the situation."

I News BD also learned that Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman had previously stated that they were not in favor of martial law, as it might not effectively calm the situation. Moreover, the global situation was not conducive to martial law. The meeting ended at this point. Multiple sources confirmed that a decision was made to disperse money to mislead the movement. The cash stored at Ganabhaban was then handed over to designated individuals. The next day, Sheikh Hasina fled, and Ganabhaban was looted, with looters taking away the money. However, it was not possible to determine exactly how many crores of Taka were involved. Fifty-five lakh Taka was recovered and handed over to the army by the public.
