No Entry to Saint Martin's Island Without Registration to Protect the Environment
Several plans have been taken to protect the environment of Saint Martin's Island. Among them, restricting the number of tourists and ensuring that no tourist can visit Saint Martin's Island without registration or permission.

On Thursday (September 5), during a consultation seminar at a hotel conference room in Cox's Bazar on banning single-use plastic on Saint Martin's Island, the Director General of the Department of Environment, Dr. Abdul Hamid, made this statement while delivering the keynote address.

The Director General said that no concessions will be made regarding illegal hill cutting or filling of water bodies. A zero-tolerance policy has been declared by the ministry on these issues. He also mentioned that the Department of Environment is working on addressing river pollution and has already taken several steps to keep the country's rivers free from pollution.

Dr. Abdul Hamid further stated that limiting the number of tourists to Saint Martin's Island will help protect the environment, and efforts will also be made to improve the quality of life for the people living there. He added that initiatives to make Cox's Bazar city free of plastic would start very soon. He also urged everyone to cooperate in keeping the sea free from plastic.
