Sarjis Alam, a coordinator of Students Against Discrimination, has stepped down as the general secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation. In a statement, he confirmed his resignation, stating that changes had been made to the foundation’s constitution, structure, and processes to improve its efficiency and expedite progress.

He explained that the executive committee would now oversee the foundation's operations, with the chief executive officer (CEO) leading the office. Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho currently holds the CEO position. The governing body, consisting of four advisers specializing in health, social welfare, local government, and ICT, will be responsible for policymaking.

Alam emphasized that the title of 'general secretary' has been removed from the foundation's structure. Reflecting on his tenure, he said, "The foundation began providing financial assistance on October 1, and the office started operating from October 15. I assumed the role of general secretary on October 21 and served for about two months and ten days until December 31. After that, I resigned."

He added, "My signing authority was officially transferred on January 7, marking the formal end of my responsibilities."

Alam further stated that during his time in the role, he did not receive any salary or honorarium from the foundation. By December 31, the foundation had provided financial support to 628 out of 826 verified martyr families and approximately 2,000 out of 11,000 verified injured individuals.

Concluding his statement, he said, "I continued serving for as long as I could give the foundation my full attention. When I realized I could no longer dedicate the required time, I resigned. Recognizing one’s limitations and adjusting responsibilities accordingly is not a weakness; it requires courage. I have always strived to remain honest and accountable in my role."
