Gana Adhikar Parishad Registered as a Political Party with Truck Symbol
Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) former VP Nurul Haque Nur's party, 'Gana Adhikar Parishad,' has been registered as a political party with the election symbol of a truck.
The Election Commission's relevant branch confirmed this information on Monday (September 2) afternoon.
Earlier, a delegation led by the organization's General Secretary, Muhammad Rashed Khan, visited the Election Commission. Nur requested the reconsideration of the party's application for political party registration. After fulfilling the registration requirements, the Election Commission granted the party official registration.
The Gana Adhikar Parishad had previously been excluded from the Election Commission's registration list just before the upcoming 12th National Parliamentary Elections.
The party had been actively involved in the simultaneous movement led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In July-August, its leaders and activists also participated actively in the student and public protests. A few days after the movement began, the party's president, Nurul Haque Nur, was arrested.
