Counter-Coup Attempts Will Be Resisted
Coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have claimed that they received information suggesting that the Awami League and its allies might attempt a counter-coup on August 15. They warned that anyone attempting such a move would be crushed by the masses. The coordinators called for everyone to take to the streets tomorrow.

This call was made on Wednesday afternoon during a unity rally at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka. The rally, organized under the banner "Ekatar Bangladesh," was attended by leaders and activists from various student organizations, including the Nationalist Student Union (Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal) and the Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Sarzis Alam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated, "Fascists are sitting in India trying to stage a counter-coup. What could be more ridiculous than that? If they try a counter-revolution, there won’t be anyone left to perform their funerals. If they dare to challenge the uprising of students and the public, they will be crushed under the gathering of millions. After 16 years, this Bangladesh has seen a new face of independence. Anyone who tries to harm this face will have no place in this country."

Sarzis also called on everyone to be ready to take to the streets until power is handed over to a government elected by the people's votes. "We must resist the accomplices of fascism. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement was a united movement against fascism, involving all parties, ideologies, and communities. Any obstruction in the future will be crushed by the tide of the people. Our fight must continue," he declared.

Another coordinator, Hasnat Abdullah, urged everyone to be prepared to resist any conspiracies on August 15, saying, "For 16 years, those who have oppressed and suffocated us, if they try to conspire on the soil of Bengal, everyone must be ready to resist them. We have heard that the accomplices of the fascists will organize on the streets to stage a coup on August 15. If they attempt to come out, the students and the public will break their legs."

Hasnat further called for everyone to stay on the streets until the initial victory of toppling the government is made permanent. He also criticized the repression of minorities by the allies of Awami fascism in communal harmony-loving Bangladesh, adding, "In this country, our primary identity is that we are all Bangladeshis. There are no minorities here. No form of discrimination will be tolerated."

Another coordinator, Abu Bakr Mojumder, stated, "The killer Hasina has been forced to leave power due to the students' and public's movement. But the accomplices of fascists are still continuing their conspiracies. After a successful revolution, they are now oppressing our minority brothers. However, we will not allow their conspiracies to succeed. We are ready to resist anyone who tries to conspire tomorrow."

Although leftist organizations like the Student Union and the Socialist Student Front had participated in previous programs of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, they were absent from today’s rally. However, leaders from the Nationalist Student Union (Chhatra Dal) and Islami Chhatra Shibir addressed the gathering.

Ganesh Chandra Roy (Sahas), President of Chhatra Dal’s Dhaka University unit, said that fascist Sheikh Hasina has fallen but her accomplices are now plotting various conspiracies. He accused her allies of trying to instigate communal riots in the post-second independence period. He added, "In Bangladesh, none of us are minorities. We are all Bangladeshis. If there are any attempts at conspiracies, we will collectively thwart them."

Sibghatullah, the central literature secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir, also spoke at the rally. He emphasized that Bangladesh has long enjoyed communal harmony, with people of different religions living side by side and celebrating their religious festivals together. However, he noted that there are now attempts to create communal instability, which they will not allow to succeed. "If any conspiracies arise in the future, we are ready to face them with our lives," he asserted.

Akhtar Hossain, the central convener of the Democratic Student Power (Ganatantrik Chhatra Shakti), remarked that the defeated forces in the students' and public's uprising are now conspiring. He pledged, "All conspiracies will be resisted. We want a Bangladesh of harmony. This is our goal, and no one can divert us from it. We will do whatever it takes to resist those who seek to create instability in the country."

Among others, Mahadi Hasan, a lecturer at Dhaka University's Department of Arabic, and former student Ali Ahsan Zunaid also addressed the rally. Following the speeches, a pre-announced public march organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement began at around 5:45 PM from Shahbagh and concluded in front of Rapa Plaza at Dhanmondi 27. The event ended with candle lighting and prayers.
