⁣NEW DELHI — In an unprecedented escalation of political confrontation in the capital, Opposition leaders led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi staged a dramatic foot march toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, after being denied a debate in Parliament over the police action against protesting students.

The dramatic shift from the floors of Parliament to the barricaded streets of Central Delhi occurred after both Houses were abruptly adjourned amid chaos. Opposition MPs had sought an immediate discussion on the severe police action—including lathi charges and tear gas—unleashed against thousands of student protestors who took to Delhi's streets demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over chronic examination paper leaks.

"The Speaker Said He Must Ask the Government First"
Addressing the press right outside the Parliament gates before leading the march, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi delivered a scathing indictment of the Parliamentary process, alleging that democratic channels to hold the government accountable have been shut down:

"We went to the Speaker and said, 'Look, we want to discuss the student issue,' and the Speaker told us that to hold a discussion, he has to ask the government. Do you understand what this means? The Speaker is telling us that to debate in Parliament, he has to take permission from the government."

"The Prime Minister neither comes to the House nor listens to the Opposition. The entire testing system has been hollowed out by termites, and when young people raise their voices for their futures, they are met with police batons and tear gas. If they won't let us speak inside, we will go directly to the Prime Minister’s doorstep to ask for answers."

High Voltage Standoff at Lok Kalyan Marg
Following the media briefing, scores of Opposition MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K.C. Venugopal, and Mallikarjun Kharge, bypassed standard protocols and marched directly toward 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.

Heavy security forces, including multi-tiered police barricades, intercepted the lawmakers along the route. Tensions surged as MPs sat on the tarmac, holding banners and shouting slogans against the Modi administration. Several senior leaders and workers were briefly detained as law enforcement scrambled to maintain the perimeter.
Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated that the opposition would not back down:

"The futures of millions of students are destroyed, paper after paper is leaked, and instead of taking responsibility, the government uses brute force to suppress their grief. Dharmendra Pradhan has lost all moral authority to hold office, and the Prime Minister's silence is deafening."

With the political climate in the capital hitting a boiling point, the Opposition's siege of the Prime Minister's residence signals a complete breakdown of legislative compromise, setting the stage for an explosive Parliamentary session ahead.
