The programme was organized as part of a three-month nationwide awareness campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Carrying the slogan, “Keep Surroundings Clean, Prevent Dengue,” the rally began from the premises of the health complex in the morning and marched along the main road in front of the hospital before returning to the venue.

Doctors, nurses, health officials, employees and local dignitaries took part in the programme. Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Sreemangal Upazila, Md. Mahibullah Akon, attended the event as the chief guest.

Among others present were Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Akash Nuniya, Dr. Zobayer Khan, Dr. Moinuddin Ahmed Mamun, Upazila Health Inspector Binoy Singh Rawat, Chief Assistant-cum-Accountant Md. Nur Alam Koyes, the Nursing Supervisor and other officials and staff members of the health complex.

Addressing the post-rally discussion meeting, speakers stressed that maintaining cleanliness around homes, removing stagnant water regularly and destroying mosquito breeding grounds are essential to preventing dengue. They also urged people not to ignore fever symptoms and to seek medical advice promptly, along with undergoing necessary dengue tests when required.

Speaking at the event, Md. Mahibullah Akon said there is no alternative to keeping residential areas clean and eliminating stagnant water to curb the spread of dengue. He added that a dedicated dengue corner has already been established at Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex and adequate medical supplies have been stocked to ensure proper treatment for patients.

Organizers said similar awareness programmes would continue in the coming months to strengthen public awareness and encourage community participation in cleanliness and dengue prevention activities.
