Advocate Rabindra Chandra Bhowmik, a senior lawyer of the Kishoreganj District Judge Court, died on Tuesday (September 29) while undergoing treatment at Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital. He was 90.

He breathed his last shortly after 5pm, according to information provided by his family and colleagues.

Bhowmik was a senior member of the Kishoreganj District Bar Association, with membership serial No. 21. He had been engaged in legal practice for more than 45 years.

During his long career, he represented litigants at the local courts and was involved in legal practice for several decades. He was also known among fellow lawyers, particularly younger members of the profession, for providing professional guidance and advice.

His death was followed by expressions of condolence from members of the local legal community, court officials and other people acquainted with him.

In accordance with Hindu religious customs, his funeral rites were completed following a final tribute by fellow lawyers at the premises of the Kishoreganj District Bar Association. His cremation was subsequently held at a local crematorium.

Bhowmik was a native of Taljanga village in Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj. He was also known as a descendant of the Taljanga Zamindar House.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter.

Leaders of the Kishoreganj District Bar Association and local dignitaries expressed condolences to the bereaved family following his death.
