According to sources, doctors and healthcare staff at government hospitals are required to remain on duty from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. However, Homeopathic Medical Officer Dr. Moin Uddin Ahmed Mamun and Pharmacist Rupok Dhar were accused of regularly arriving at the hospital late.
The allegations state that they often report to work between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., causing inconvenience to patients seeking medical services.
After the matter came to light, Moulvibazar Civil Surgeon Dr. Manunur Rahman instructed the authorities of Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex to take appropriate action. He said the complaint was being treated seriously and that necessary measures had been ordered.
Sreemangal Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Cynthia Tasnim said that, following the Civil Surgeon’s directive,show-cause notices had been issued to both officials. She added, “When Dr. Mamun was informed about the notice and asked to sign it,he was not found at his workplace even until 2:00 p.m. This incident was also one of the reasons for issuing the notice.”
Sources at the health complex said that written explanations have been sought from both officials. Further administrative action will be taken after their responses are reviewed.
